If you made under $50,270 looks like you are eleigible for free tax preparation through VITA Program Services.  There are other qualifictions for being able to get your taxes done for free.  Checkout the City of Phoenix website for other qualifications.

Here is the schedule that I pulled from the City of Phoenix site for places,dates and times to have your taxes prepared for free.  Schedule of Assistance Sites

Here is a list of items the City site is suggesting you have with you at the time of your tax preparation:

  • Proof of identification – Picture ID 
  • Social Security Cards for you, your spouse and dependents or a Social Security Number verification letter issued by the Social Security Administration or 
  • An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) assignment letter for you, your spouse and dependents 
  • Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return 
  • Wage and earning statements from all employers (Forms W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc) 
  • Bank interest and dividend statements (Forms 1099) 
  • A copy of last year’s federal and state tax returns if available 
  • Bank routing numbers and account numbers for Direct Deposit or a blank check 
  • Total amount paid for daycare and the daycare provider's tax identification number (the provider's Social Security Number or the provider's business Employer Identification Number) if appropriate 
  • To file taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return, both adults must be present to sign the required forms
